COOKIE POLICY
Last updated December 15, 2025
This Cookie Policy explains how Operion LLC (doing business as Operion) ("we," "us," and "our") uses cookies, localStorage, and similar tracking technologies to recognize you when you visit our website at operion.io ("Website"). It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.
In some cases we may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect personal information, or information that becomes personal information if we combine it with other information. In such cases, the Operion Privacy Policy will apply in addition to this Cookie Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.
Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Operion) are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g., advertising, interactive content, and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.
What about other tracking technologies?
In addition to cookies, we use other tracking technologies:
localStorage and sessionStorage
What is it? localStorage and sessionStorage are web storage mechanisms that allow websites to store data in your browser. Unlike cookies, this data is not automatically sent to the server with every request.
How we use it:
- Session Management: We use localStorage to store your session ID and last activity timestamp
- Persistence: localStorage data persists even after you close your browser, until you manually clear it
- Size: We store minimal data (just session identifiers and timestamps)
Your control: You can clear localStorage through your browser settings (Developer Tools > Application > Local Storage, or "Clear Browsing Data" > "Cookies and other site data").
Browser Fingerprinting
What is it? Browser fingerprinting is a technique that collects information about your browser configuration and device characteristics to create a unique identifier.
How is it different from cookies? Unlike cookies, browser fingerprinting doesn't store anything on your device. Instead, it analyzes characteristics like your screen resolution, installed fonts, browser plugins, and hardware information to compute a unique identifier.
How we use it:
- Fraud prevention and bot detection
- Security and abuse prevention
- Analytics and understanding user behavior
- Session continuity
Service provider: We use FingerprintJS to generate browser fingerprints.
Your control: Use privacy-focused browsers (Firefox with Enhanced Tracking Protection, Brave, Tor Browser) or browser extensions that randomize fingerprinting signals. Note that this may affect functionality.
Legal classification: Browser fingerprinting is considered personal data processing under GDPR and CCPA regulations.
Why do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?
We use first-party and third-party cookies and tracking technologies for several reasons. Some tracking technologies are required for technical reasons in order for our Website to operate, and we refer to these as "essential" or "strictly necessary" tracking technologies. Other tracking technologies enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our Website. Third parties serve tracking technologies through our Website for analytics, advertising, and other purposes.
